Summary

  • Woodpecker does not operate an analytics or advertising service.
  • No separate Woodpecker account is required.
  • Application settings and statistics are stored locally.
  • Steam Cloud can synchronize one Woodpecker state file through Valve’s service.
  • Foreground-process checks and screen coordinates are evaluated on your computer.
  • Cookie mode communicates through the local loopback interface.

Data stored locally

Woodpecker stores the information needed to restore the application and measure runs:

  • Clicker configuration, hotkeys, input choices, timing, limits, and safety settings.
  • Named presets and sequence coordinates.
  • Process allow or block rules entered by the user.
  • Window preferences such as opacity, topmost state, and startup behaviour.
  • Aggregate run statistics used by the application and Steam achievements.

This information remains on the computer unless Steam Cloud synchronization is enabled.

Steam services

The Steam release uses Valve services for ownership verification, application launch, achievements, aggregate stats, and Steam Cloud.

Woodpecker writes its synchronized state to woodpecker-cloud-v1.json through the Steam Remote Storage API. Valve processes that file and associated Steam account information under the Steam Privacy Policy.

Woodpecker does not receive your Steam password or payment information.

Process and window observations

When process rules or task-switcher protection are enabled, Woodpecker observes the current foreground application so the native engine can pause or stop a run.

These observations are used locally for the active safety decision. Woodpecker does not transmit a history of foreground applications to a Woodpecker-operated service.

Your control

You can stop Woodpecker from starting with Windows, disable Steam Cloud in Steam, remove presets from the application, and uninstall Woodpecker through the Steam client.

Local configuration files may remain after uninstall so settings survive reinstallation. They can be removed manually if you want to erase the local application state. Steam Cloud data is controlled through Steam.

Retention and disclosure

Woodpecker retains local settings until they are replaced or removed by the user. There is no Woodpecker-operated account database containing those settings.

Information may be disclosed when required by law or when necessary to investigate abuse directed at the support service. Woodpecker does not sell personal information.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Woodpecker’s features or service integrations change. The effective date will be updated when a material revision is published.
